Matthew Simone was born and raised in Beacon, NY and later studied fine
art, illustration and graphic design at SUNY New Paltz and the Fashion
Institute of Technology in NYC. After finishing school and moving to
Bowling Green, KY he has had several solo and shared exhibitions at the
Capitol Arts Center and the Public Theatre of Kentucky along with
several group exhibitions at the Kentucky Museum at Western Kentucky University.
Matt creates images using various medias with a mixture of collage and
found objects. He uses his unique characters to tell his observations
or personal stories in his pieces. As Sideshow, Matt creates works of a
more public nature to make statements and "get up" and put out his work
in areas outside a gallery setting. Using elements from illustration
and comic art as well as street art and the natural weathering of urban
areas to help create a unique blend of images in his work, Matt tells
us the stories he sees around him in a city or a life.
