Feel free
to wear your fedora to the opening of Michael D’Antuono’s
“Paint Noir“ exhibit at Zahra Studio Gallery in Beacon.
It’s a show that draws it’s inspiration from the film noir
era of the forties and early fifties. The opening with the artist will
be held on Saturday, April 8th from 6-9 pm. The show will run throughout
the entire month of April. Zahra Studio is located at 496 Main St, Beacon,
NY. D’Antuono’s
oil paintings draw mostly from the seedy side of life during a time
in our country that now seems strangely innocent. Cinematic in nature,
the art captures the lost style and romance of the period.
New to the
fine art scene but not new, D’Antuono was primarily an illustrator
for the last 25 years, having his work in publications such as The Wall
Street Journal and The Washington Post. His art hangs in Governor Arnold
Schwarzenegger’s collection. He also spent a few years as an art
director creating many T.V. commercials. Among them was his campaign
that ran twenty years called “Fixodent and Forget it”. But
that’s in the past and D’Antuono doesn’t like to look
back unless it happens to be back to a time when men were mugs and women
were dames.
